Joy of Giving Week is an initiative started by Give India. It gives many an opportunity to reach out to the lesser privileged by donating money, volunteering time, providing a platform to sharpen their skills. TV9 carried promos, free scrolls promoting the concept of the joy of giving to the less privileged in all our channels through the entire week September 27 - October 2, 2009. There was tremendous response due to the awareness TV9 created and many innovative initiatives were started. Media should be a harbinger for social change is what the channel believes and within the limited space it will try and do the maximum.
Teach For India is a nationwide movement for outstanding college graduates and young professionals who dedicate two-years of their time to teach full-time to enable equity in education. In December 2009 as a national initiative TV9 promoted Teach India free scroll and free promos in all its channels. TV9 urged people to join as volunteers. The channel’s efforts paid off when the organization received nearly 2,000 applications. TV9’s campaign brought hope to thousands of underprivileged children.
Air India and TV9 announced a joint recognition program for teachers and students of Andhra Pradesh in the past 3 years to recognize excellence. The award-winners are usually selected by a distinguished panel of judges and the winners travel to Singapore as guests of Air-India where they get a chance to interact with the teaching and student community of Singapore. The objective of the visit to Singapore is to lead teachers and students "Towards Responsible & Active Citizenship". TV9 carried free scrolls and promos throughout the period. The channel also took up the task of getting applications from deserving students and teachers from AP.
CFSI is a nodal Government of India organization dedicated to providing wholesome entertainment for children through film and television, with the objective of broadening their horizon and justifying Right to Entertainment. CSFI in collaboration with TV9 celebrated a whole week of film festival for children. Children are being denied their basic right to wholesome entertainment when they are forced to see movies made for adults. TV9’s coverage encourages children to participate in large numbers and make film festivals a huge success.
CMS VATAVARAN is India’s premier Environment and Wildlife Traveling Film Festival. TV9 has been the media partners of Center for Media Studies for past 2 years. TV9 covered their activities and promoted films on environment chosen for the prestigious awards. TV9 carried scrolls, free promos in all its channels. The channel aired features in bulletins and special shows on film directors working on environmental issues. The aim was to sensitize an audience towards environmental issues. A revolution in terms of climate change is the need of the hour.
